From 1st of April 2008, the government has increased the amount of funding available to 3 and 4 year olds attending a nursery or pre-school setting. They have increased the sessional amount to £9.02 per session and they will now fund for 38 weeks of the year.
A 'session' is 2.5 hours of free nursery education for your child.
All eligible 3 and 4 year old children will be funded for three terms, beginning the term after the child's 3rd birthday. Parents can claim up to five sessions per week for their child saving a considerable amount of money on childcare.
A child aged 3 by:
31 March is eligible from the summer term, (after Easter).
31 August is eligible from the autumn term, (september).
31 December is eligible from the spring term, (after christmas).
To receive government funding for your child all you have to do is register your child with an approved provider of early education that are registered and inspected by OFSTED.
Providers must follow the governments national foundation stage curriculum for 3 and 4 year olds. The quality of their provision is monitored by the office for standards in education, (OFSTED).
Early years education should provide a combination of care, play and education, enthusiastic early years workers, good resources and equipment and an approach that will meet the needs of your child.
Important note: funding does not apply during terms in which main primary schools are closed. Therefore, full fees are payable.
Woody's Day Nursery meets all the requirements for your child to receive government funding at the setting the term after your child is 3 years old.
